The collision occurred at approximately 4:36 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, near Rice Avenue.

Twentynine Palms, CA – A man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle while walking in the westbound lanes of Twentynine Palms Highway early Tuesday morning, a CHP report said.

The collision occurred at approximately 4:36 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, near Rice Avenue.

The pedestrian was struck by a Toyota Prius as he was walking in the westbound lanes. CHP officers arrived and began life-saving measures before emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene.

The pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was not injured.

The victim’s identity had not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The incident remains under investigation.
