Twentynine Palms, CA – A motorcyclist struck and killed a pedestrian in Twentynine Palms on Wednesday, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The wreck took place in the area of Twentynine Palms Highway near Mesquite Springs Road on Wednesday, March 4.

According to authorities, the pedestrian was walking in the eastbound lanes of the highway while an unidentified man was riding a motorcycle also heading east. For unspecified reasons, the motorcycle collided with the pedestrian in the roadway.

A passerby attempted to perform CPR on the victim before emergency medical personnel arrived.

However, the pedestrian succumbed his injuries at the scene. He has since been identified as Jimmy Reynolds, 55, of Twentynine Palms.

The rider had significant injuries and medics transported him to Hi-Desert Medical Center. He was then airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

Authorities have not specified whether impairment or speed played a role in the incident. No reports of arrests or citations were announced.
