Phoenix, AZ– Police are investigating a deadly collision that claimed the life of one person in west Phoenix early Thursday morning.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the crash was reported shortly after midnight on Thursday, October 1, on 43rd Avenue and Cactus Road.
Preliminary reports indicate that a driver ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a second vehicle.
The driver who ran the red light reportedly died as a result of the crash.
Three parties in the second vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have not released the identities of the parties involved in the crash.
The incident led to the closure of the intersection for nearly six hours as authorities worked at the scene.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Phoenix Police Department.
