Initial reports indicate that a driver traveling south on US 395 drifted into the northbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

Chewelah, WA – Two people were killed in a rollover collision involving two vehicles near Chewelah on Wednesday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the wreck took place on US 395 at around 11:37 a.m. on September 30.
Initial reports indicate that a driver traveling south on US 395 drifted into the northbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
The southbound driver and a passenger in the northbound car were both killed in the collision.
The Washington State Patrol identified the deceased parties as Brian Smith, 50, of Seattle, and Jodie Valim, 55, of Fruitland.
The driver of the northbound vehicle was hospitalized with critical injuries.
According to the Washington Department of Transportation, both directions of US 395 were temporarily shut down as authorities worked to clear the scene.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating to establish the circumstances of the crash.
