The two occupants of the Ford F-250 were injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.
Rio Vista, CA. – One person was killed and two others were injured in a head-on crash on State Route 160 near Rio Vista early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal Rio Vista crash occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. on State Route 160 at Sherman Island Cross Road.
CHP’s South Sacramento Division said a Kia Forte was traveling northbound on SR-160 when it crossed into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with a Ford F-250 pickup truck hauling equipment.
The driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the Ford F-250 were injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.
The circumstances that caused the Kia to cross into opposing traffic remain under investigation. No arrests were reported.
The crash forced the closure of both directions of State Route 160 as emergency crews responded and investigators processed the scene. Traffic was diverted near the Antioch Bridge during the closure.
The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
