Escondido, CA – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Monday evening in Escondido, according to the Escondido Police Department.
The collision occurred at around 7:45 p.m. September 21, on Centre City Parkway near Ninth Avenue.
Police reported that the man walked into the roadway and was hit by a vehicle traveling in the northbound lanes of Centre City Parkway.
A bystander rendered medical aid to the victim until medics arrived and rushed him to a hospital.
The victim was declared dead at the hospital. His name was not immediately released.
The involved driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
According to police, the driver was not suspected to have been impaired at the time of the accident.
The collision caused road closures for nearly four hours as authorities worked at the scene.
The Escondido Police Department continues to investigate the cause of the accident.
