A semi-truck towing triple trailers crossed the center median and crashed into a Ford Edge on Interstate 84 near Arlington, OSP said.
Gilliam County, OR – Three people were injured, one of them seriously, following a two-vehicle collision on I-84 in Gilliam County Thursday morning, according to Oregon State Patrol (OSP).
The crash occurred at approximately 6:49 a.m. on Sept. 24, 2026, on Interstate 84 near milepost 137 in Gilliam County.
According to OSP, 32-year-old Edwin Alexander Gomez of Pasco, Washington, was driving a white Freightliner eastbound when, for some reason, he struck the center median. The semi crossed into the westbound lanes, where one of its trailers struck a westbound white Ford Edge driven by 51-year-old Pratapa Reddy Koppula of West Hills, California. The impact caused the SUV to overturn.
Koppula was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. Gomez also suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, while his passenger, 26-year-old Ashleigh Darlene Krupkat of Kennewick, Washington, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.
Following the investigation, Gomez was arrested on charges of DUII, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, and fourth-degree assault. He was booked into the Northern Oregon Regional Corrections Facility after receiving medical clearance.
The crash blocked the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 and the Arlington westbound on-ramp for approximately eight hours as crews removed hazardous materials, recovered vehicles, cleared debris, and repaired the damaged center median.
The Gilliam County crash is under investigation.
