Investigators believe Nabil Alsalek was out for a jog at the time, and there was dense fog in the area.

Murrieta, CA – A man who died after being struck by a vehicle while jogging in Murrieta Sunday morning has been identified, according to the Murrieta Police Department.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner identified the victim as Nabil Alsalek, a 73-year-old resident of Murrieta.
The collision occurred on September 13, 2026, at about 6:57 a.m. near the intersection of Whitewood Road and Meadowlark Lane.
Police said a vehicle was traveling southbound on Whitewood Road when Alsalek entered the roadway and was struck. Investigators believe he was out for a jog at the time, while dense fog was present in the area.
The driver, a 52-year-old woman, attempted to swerve to avoid the pedestrian, according to police. Alsalek was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where he was pronounced dead at 11:47 a.m. despite life-saving efforts.
Police said alcohol and drugs are not believed to have contributed to the collision.
The Murrieta Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal pedestrian crash.
