El Cajon, CA – The authorities have released the identity of a person who was killed after two vehicles collided head-on in El Cajon early Sunday morning.
The County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased party as Armando Quintero Salas, a 25-year-old El Cajon man.
The San Diego PD said Salas was operating one of the vehicles involved in the wreck. Salas was pronounced dead at the scene. One other person was seriously injured in the crash.

El Cajon, CA – The authorities are investigating a deadly head-on collision that left one person dead and another seriously injured in El Cajon early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at approximately 12:35 a.m. Sunday, September 6, 2026, on La Cresta Road, and involved a truck and a car.
CHP said the vehicles collided head-on, but did not release details about the direction either vehicle was traveling at the time of the crash.
One adult male driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, also an adult male, was transported to an area hospital with major injuries. The identity of the man who died had not been released.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal collision.
