The deadly collision happened at 5:54 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2026, at the intersection of Iris Avenue and Lasselle Street.
Moreno Valley, CA – One person was killed, and three others were critically injured after a four-vehicle crash at an intersection in Moreno Valley Friday evening, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased party as David Betts, a 65-year-old resident of Menifee.
The deadly collision happened at 5:54 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2026, at the intersection of Iris Avenue and Lasselle Street.
Deputies arrived to find four vehicles with major collision damage. Authorities have not provided information about the directions of travel or how the collision occurred.
Four people were transported in critical condition to a local hospital following the crash. One of them, Betts, was later pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made in connection with the crash.
Deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the scene, and the station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team assumed the investigation.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Authorities have not determined whether alcohol and/or drugs were a factor.
