A man driving the Chevy was injured and was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.
Long Beach, CA. – A woman was killed in a suspected DUI crash that left a man injured on Saturday afternoon in Long Beach.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the accident happened around 2:40 p.m. in the 6900 block of Atlantic Avenue.
A 2019 Volvo was traveling northbound on Atlantic Avenue when it struck a 2004 Chevrolet that was turning onto Atlantic Place from Atlantic Avenue.
The Volvo then struck two other occupied stationary vehicles waiting at the intersection while the Chevrolet overturned.
78-year-old Lionila Yerena was riding in the Chevy and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the Volvo initially fled the scene, but returned a short time later and was taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in death or injury, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol causing bodily injury.
