Irvine, CA – Elderly Man Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck near Meadowood and Yale Avenue

Irvine, CA – 78-year-old Jinshui Li died after he was struck by a pickup truck Monday morning near an intersection in Irvine, police reported.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. on August 17, 2026, near Meadowood and Yale Avenue.

According to the Irvine Police Department, a Chevrolet pickup truck was reportedly stopped eastbound on Meadowood before driving directly into the intersection with Yale Avenue. At the same time, Li was crossing the street in an unmarked crosswalk when he was struck by the pickup truck.

Emergency personnel rushed Li to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The IPD Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the accident.
