Barstow, CA – The authorities have released the name of a pedestrian who died after being struck by a semi-truck on 15 Freeway near Helendale early Tuesday.
The San Bernardino County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased pedestrian as Rachel Alailima, a 40-year-old resident of Bellflower.
Authorities said Alailima and another pedestrian were struck by a big rig at about 12:15 a.m. on August 11 on I-15 near Hodge Road.
Alailima was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports on the condition of the second pedestrian, a man, were not immediately provided.
The crash remains under investigation.

Barstow, CA – One person was killed, and another was injured in a pedestrian accident in Barstow early Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol incident logs, the accident happened around 12:15 a.m. on northbound Interstate 15 near Hodge Road.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a man and a woman who had been struck by a big rig.
One person was killed in the accident.
The condition of the second pedestrian was not disclosed.
The truck stopped at the scene, and the driver cooperated with the police.
All northbound lanes were closed as the scene was cleared.
