Clark County, WA – A 42-year-old Portland man was killed after his motorcycle crashed into another vehicle on Interstate 5 in Clark County early Friday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The fatal Clark County crash occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2026, on northbound Interstate 5 near milepost 20, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The motorcycle was traveling northbound on I-5 in the third lane when the rider lost control and crossed all lanes. The motorcycle struck the jersey barrier on the right side, and the rider came to rest in the first lane. A northbound vehicle traveling in the first lane then struck the rider.
The motorcycle rider was identified as 42-year-old Jesse D. Ensunsa of Portland, Oregon. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Larry M. Barney of Vancouver, Washington, was not injured. Barney was wearing a seatbelt, while Ensunsa was wearing a U.S. Department of Transportation-compliant helmet.
No arrests were reported in connection with the crash.
The Washington State Patrol listed speed as the cause of the collision. Whether drugs or alcohol were involved was listed as unknown.
Troopers responded to the scene and investigated the fatal collision. The motorcycle was towed from the scene, while the second vehicle sustained reportable damage.
