Through investigation, authorities learned that a 79-year-old woman was making a U-turn at the school’s parking lot when she accelerated and crashed into a parked vehicle.

Glendale, CA – Several children were transported to hospital after a car crashed into a preschool in Glendale on Friday afternoon.
According to the Glendale Police Department, the accident took place at Grandview House Preschool located at 1212 N. Pacific Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday, August 7.
Through investigation, authorities learned that a 79-year-old woman was making a U-turn at the school’s parking lot when she accelerated and crashed into a parked vehicle.
The driver continued on and went through the gate, before slamming into a classroom with students inside.
Police and the Glendale Fire Department responded to the scene shortly after and assisted the involved parties.
Eight Children were assessed and transported to hospitals for minor injuries. The children were treated and released to their parents.
No adults were injured in the incident.
The driver of the involved vehicle was evaluated for DUI and police reported that impairment was not suspected as a factor in the incident.
It is believed that the woman may have accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brakes. Glendale police are still investigating to ascertain the circumstances of the accident.
