Sandy, OR – A man was killed in a collision involving big rigs near Sandy on Thursday night, according to a report by the Oregon State Police.
The incident took place just before 10:37 p.m. July 23, on U.S. 26, near East Terra Fern Drive.
Preliminary reports indicate that a red Freightliner semi-truck was traveling west on U.S. 26 when the driver stopped after the rig overheated. Shortly after, a white Volvo semi-truck then slammed into the rear of the stopped rig.
According to the OSP, the driver of the white Volvo was killed in the collision. He was identified as James Glen Fisher, 62, of Medford.
The driver of the red big rig, Colton Wayne Adams, 26, of Bend, was uninjured in the incident.
The Oregon State Police is investigating the incident and additional details are expected to be released.
