Around 11:04 p.m. on July 27, 2026, CHP officers and firefighters responded to southbound SR-55 just north of State Route 22 after they were notified about a multi-vehicle collision.
Santa Ana, CA – At least one person died in a multi-vehicle accident that happened Monday night on State Route 55 in Santa Ana, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Around 11:04 p.m. on July 27, 2026, CHP officers and firefighters responded to southbound SR-55 just north of State Route 22 after they were notified about a multi-vehicle collision.
The responders found a black Jeep overturned onto its side, a Nissan Versa, a Mercedes-Benz sedan, and a Hyundai Sonata at the scene.
A person who was lying in the slow lane was possibly ejected from the Jeep.
CHP said at least one person died in the accident.
An occupant in the Hyundai complained of pain to the neck and needed medical attention.
It was unclear if any other person was injured.
All the vehicles were towed away from the scene.
CHP is investigating to establish the cause of the accident.
