Santa Fe Springs, CA – A male pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday evening on the southbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway just south of Valley View Avenue.

According to a witness, the driver who struck him did not stop after the impact.
CHP officers stopped traffic at Carmenita Road and requested the closure of the HOV lane and the first two lanes to allow for the investigation.
Authorities have not determined why the victim was initially down in the roadway, and it remains unclear whether he was an adult or juvenile. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The incident remains under investigation.
