Cochise County, AZ – The Arizona Department of Public Safety identified the Good Samaritan who was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon while helping at a rollover collision scene on Interstate 10 in Cochise County.
28-year-old Timothy Patsalos was hit by a car around 2:57 p.m. July 21, 2026, on eastbound I-10 near Dragoon Road.
AZDPS said the semi-truck driver, a resident of Maricopa, Arizona, stopped near an earlier rollover collision scene to offer help. As Patsalos was flagging down traffic in the area, he was struck by a passing Nissan X-Trail.
Emergency personnel took the victim to a hospital in Willcox, but he later died while receiving treatment.
No one else was injured.
AZDPS reported that weather and the initial crash contributed to the fatal accident.

Cochise County, AZ – A Good Samaritan who had stopped to offer help at the scene of a rollover collision was struck and killed by a vehicle on Tuesday near Dragoon, an unincorporated place in Cochise County.
The incident occurred on July 21 on the eastbound Interstate 10 near Dragoon Road.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a Good Samaritan pulled over in the area to offer aid after a vehicle overturned while traveling east on I-10. As the person was assisting at the scene, they were struck by another passing car. The victim was taken to a hospital in Willcox, where they later died from their injuries.
No other details were available, but AZDPS is investigating the accident.
