According to the AZDPS, the driver was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 when they caused a crash involving multiple vehicles
Ahwatukee, AZ – One person sustained major injuries in a collision that took place in Ahwatukee on Friday evening, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The crash was reported at around 6:30 p.m. July 17, on Interstate 10 East near Ray Road.
According to the AZDPS, the driver was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 when they caused a crash involving multiple vehicles.
There were reports of injuries to several people as a result of the accident. One of the patients was reportedly hospitalized with critical injuries.
The driver who was traveling the wrong way was suspected to have been impaired at the time of the collision, the AZDPS reported.
The eastbound lanes of I-10 were shut down for an unspecified duration amid the on-scene investigations.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation and additional details are expected to be released.
