Bellingham, WA– A pedestrian was taken to a hospital after being hit by a vehicle early Thursday morning in Bellingham, according to the Bellinngham Fire Department.
Shortly before 5 a.m. July 9, authorities responded to reports of an accident at the Sunset Drive Overpass on Interstate 5.
According to police, a male pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the westbound lanes of the overpass under unclear circumstances.
Crews with the Bellingham Fire Department responded to the site of the collision and rendered aid to those involved.
The pedestrian was then transferred to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center for further treatment. The victim’s condition was not released in the police report.
The westbound lanes of the overpass were shut down for nearly three hours following the accident.
At this time, no additional details on the crash have been released. Authorities are still working to establish the exact cause of the accident.
