Mesa, AZ – Authorities have identified the driver who was killed in a head-on collision in Mesa late Tuesday morning.
The Mesa Police identified the deceased driver as 32-year-old Ethan Reedy.
The fatal crash occurred shortly before 12:00 p.m. on Broadway Road near Nina Drive, just west of Extension Road.
According to Mesa police, the collision involved a pickup truck and a commercial box truck. Emergency crews responded to the scene and used specialized rescue equipment to reach one of the drivers trapped inside the smaller truck.
Reedy sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead following the crash.
The other driver was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities said neither vehicle had any passengers.
Broadway Road was closed between Extension Road and Westwood for several hours while investigators documented the scene and crews cleared the wreckage. The roadway reopened at approximately 4:00 p.m.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
