Mesa, AZ – One was killed and another suffered critical injuries following a head-on collision involving two trucks in Mesa late Tuesday morning, according to Mesa Police.
The crash occurred shortly before 12:00 p.m. on Broadway Road near Nina Drive, just west of Extension Road.
Investigators said the collision involved a pickup truck and a commercial box truck, and both vehicles sustained extensive front-end damage. Emergency crews responded to the scene and used a ladder to reach one person who was trapped inside the wreckage.
Police said one person suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
Another party was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Broadway Road was closed in both directions between Extension Road and Westwood for several hours while Mesa police processed the scene and cleared the wreckage. Drivers were advised to avoid the area during the investigation.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
