Fremont, CA – A man riding an electric bicycle died after he collided with a car Saturday afternoon on an 880 Freeway on-ramp in Fremont, authorities reported.
The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on June 27, 2026, on the on-ramp to the 880 Freeway at Auto Mall Parkway and Grimmer Boulevard.
According to the Fremont Police Department, a woman was driving a car westbound on Auto Mall Parkway in a designated right-turn lane to get onto the northbound 880 Freeway.
At the same time, the cyclist was riding eastbound in the westbound bike lane at the on-ramp entrance to the freeway when the two collided.
The rider sustained head trauma in the accident. Responding paramedics took the man to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The female driver was not injured and remained at the scene after the collision.
