South Los Angeles, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in South Los Angeles on Monday evening, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Investigators reported that a train struck a pedestrian on the tracks under unclear circumstances. Authorities at the scene were still working to determine why the pedestrian was on the tracks.
Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures on the victim.
Despite their efforts, the pedestrian died at the scene of the accident. The victim’s identity was not released pending notification of the next-of-kin.
There were no injuries reported by the occupants of the train.
