Phoenix, AZ – One person was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Phoenix late Thursday night, according to Phoenix police.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. on June 18, 2026, at the intersection of 59th Avenue and McDowell Road.

According to the police, a black pickup truck, operated by a 21-year-old man, was speeding and ran a red light before colliding with another vehicle. The impact caused the second vehicle to crash into a nearby business, while the pickup truck crashed into a light pole. Emergency crews arrived and found one person trapped in one of the vehicles and required extrication.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 43-year-old woman, was transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. A 20-year-old passenger in the same vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Investigators believe speed and impairment were factors in the collision. Police said the pickup truck driver will be arrested on suspicion of DUI once he is released from the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
