Klamath County, OR – Lenayah King Killed, 3 Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 39

Klamath County, OR – One person was killed and three others were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 39 near milepost 2 in Klamath County on Tuesday morning, according to the Oregon State Police.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 11:21 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Highway 39 and Highway 140.

OSP said Fatima Abrica Torres, 38, of Merrill, was driving a white Kia Sedona southbound on Highway 39. At the same time, a silver Chrysler PT Cruiser, operated by 71-year-old Lenayah Priscilla King of Bonanza, was stopped at a stop sign on Highway 140. King then tried to make a left turn onto Highway 39 to travel northbound but failed to yield the right of way to the southbound Kia, and the two vehicles collided.

King suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Torres and two juvenile passengers in the Kia sustained minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash was determined to be the Chrysler driver’s failure to yield the right of way while entering Highway 39.

Oregon State Police troopers responded to the scene and were assisted by Klamath County Fire District #1 and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The crash impacted Highway 39 for approximately 30 minutes while authorities conducted the on-scene investigation and cleared the roadway.

The crash remains under investigation.
