Santa Cruz County, CA – Two people were killed, and two others suffered major injuries in a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Interlaken, Santa Cruz County, on Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 8:47 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the intersection of State Route 152 and Casserly Road.
According to the CHP, the crash involved a white 2011 Infiniti G37, operated by a 19-year-old Watsonville man, and a driving a gray 2026 Toyota Camry, driven by a 19-year-old Capitola man.
Investigators said the Infiniti G37 was traveling westbound on Highway 152 when, for some reason, it collided with the eastbound Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Toyota and his passenger, a 17-year-old girl, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The authorities have not released the identities of the deceased victims pending notification of their families
The driver of the Infiniti and his passenger, a man in his early 20s, suffered major injuries in the collision. The driver was transported by ground ambulance to Natividad Medical Center for treatment, while the passenger was airlifted to Valley Medical Center.
California Highway Patrol officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and provided aid to the injured victims before transporting them to area hospitals.
Authorities said alcohol and drugs are being investigated as possible contributing factors.
The deadly crash remains under investigation.
