Investigators reported that a man was attempting to walk across the roadway when he was hit by a white Toyota Hatchback

Bakersfield, CA – A man was hospitalized with critical injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Bakersfield on Tuesday night.
According to a report by the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident occurred at around 10:20 p.m. on June 9, in the 1600 block of Golden State Avenue.
Investigators reported that a man was attempting to walk across the roadway when he was hit by a white Toyota Hatchback. The victim was reportedly walking outside of a marked crosswalk when the collision happened.
Bakersfield police and emergency crews arrived at the scene shortly after and found the victim with severe injuries. The victim was transported to a hospital and was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the Toyota was unhurt and stayed at the scene. The identities of the involved parties were not immediately available.
Police reported that speed and impairment were not believed to be factors in the accident. The driver was cooperative with law enforcement and no arrests were made.
