San Francisco, CA – 61-year-old Cheryl Coleman, who died last week in a pedestrian accident in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood, was a longtime U.S. Postal Service employee, authorities reported.

Coleman was struck by a vehicle around 5:31 a.m. on June 3, 2026, near Brannan and Seventh streets.

The San Francisco Police Department responded to the scene and found Coleman on the ground after she had been hit by a car under unclear circumstances.

Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

USPS said Coleman was a member of their San Francisco postal family and that she had served USPS for 27 years.

The driver involved stopped and cooperated with investigators.

Impairment was not believed to be a contributing factor, but authorities are investigating the accident.
