Preliminary reports indicate that a pedestrian may have been running on the southbound side of the freeway when a vehicle struck them

Arleta, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on the Golden (5) Freeway in Arleta on Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at around 10:29 p.m. on June 7, on the freeway near Osborne Street.
Preliminary reports indicate that a pedestrian may have been running on the southbound side of the freeway when a vehicle struck them. The victim was thrown into the northbound lanes by the impact of the accident.
Emergency crews responded shortly after and the victim was declared deceased at the site of the collision. The victim’s identity was not immediately available.
All southbound and some northbound lanes of the freeway were shut down for hours as authorities investigated the incident. As at 3 a.m. Monday, all lanes had been reopened.
No further details on the accident were immediately available. The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation to establish the cause of the collision.
