Apache Junction, AZ – One person sustained serious injuries following a head-on collision on U.S. 60 in Apache Junction Friday afternoon, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The crash occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. on eastbound U.S. 60 near Ironwood Drive and involved a dump truck and a passenger vehicle.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the dump truck may have suffered a tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control and cross the median into opposing traffic, where it collided head-on with an eastbound passenger vehicle.
The occupant of the passenger vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Information regarding injuries to the dump truck driver was not immediately available, and no arrests were reported.
