Lucerne Valley, CA – Three people were injured, including one who was airlifted to the hospital, after a multi-vehicle accident that happened Sunday afternoon on State Route 18 in Lucerne Valley.
The pileup occurred around 1:19 p.m., May 31, on SR-18 at Custer Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a silver GMC Sierra pickup truck, a black Kia Optima sedan, and a black Toyota Prius sedan. The pickup truck acquired major rear-end damage and stopped off the highway near a utility pole. Both sedans were blocking traffic lanes after the crash, but were pushed out of the roadway by responding CHP officers.
Three people were injured in the accident. One of the patients was taken to Pioneer Park by ground ambulance, from where they were airlifted by a medical helicopter to a trauma center.
Another patient from one of the sedans was transported to the hospital by ground ambulance with unknown injuries, and a passenger in the pickup truck was also taken to the hospital by ground ambulance with the complaint of pain to the back.
The crash is under investigation by CHP-Victorville Station.
