According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported around 5:54 p.m. on May 26 on the eastbound Hwy 58, east of Towerline Road.

Bakersfield, CA – A 25-year-old man died in a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck that happened Tuesday afternoon on Highway 58 in Bakersfield.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported around 5:54 p.m. on May 26 on the eastbound Hwy 58, east of Towerline Road.
Based on a preliminary investigation, the 25-year-old man was driving a 2025 Nissan Sentra westbound on the highway at about 85-90 mph. At the same time, a 35-year-old man was driving a 2023 Kenworth 3-Axle tractor/2-Axle semi-trailer combination in the No. 1 lane of eastbound Highway 58 at about 55 mph.
As the vehicles approached each other, the driver of the Nissan made an unsafe turn, went out of control, and crossed the dirt median center into the eastbound lanes.
The Nissan collided with the Kenworth. Airborne vehicle debris from the crash struck a 2019 Porsche Panamera driven by a 25-year-old man eastbound on the highway directly behind the semi-truck at about 65-70 mph.
The man driving the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of the semi-truck and the Porsche were not injured.
Authorities are investigating to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
