Riverside, CA – One person was killed following a traffic incident on the Interstate 215 transition road to State Route 91 in Riverside on Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal incident was reported at about 7:15 a.m. on the northbound Interstate 215 connector to westbound State Route 91.
Preliminary reports indicate that a naked male was seen standing on the right shoulder and looking over the right-side wall near the transition roadway, and was hit by at least two vehicles
According to CHP, a white pickup truck, a sedan, a utility truck, and a big rig had pulled over on the right-hand side near the individual before authorities arrived at the scene.
Authorities later confirmed the man died in the crash. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. Information regarding additional injuries was not immediately available, and no arrests were reported.
The exact circumstances surrounding the fatal Riverside incident remain under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
California Highway Patrol officers, Riverside Fire Department personnel, Riverside police officers, and the Riverside County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene. Authorities also requested a hard closure of the northbound Interstate 215 transition road to westbound State Route 60 as crews conducted the investigation.
The incident caused significant traffic disruptions throughout the morning commute. Multiple lanes on northbound Interstate 215 were shut down for several hours, and a SigAlert was issued. CHP later reopened some lanes while maintaining closures on the No. 2 and No. 3 lanes during the investigation.
