Fresno, CA – The woman who was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 in Fresno last month has been identified, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities identified the victim as 41-year-old Grace Martinez.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on April 17 on Highway 99 near North Avenue in Fresno.
Investigators reported that a Dodge Charger was traveling southbound on Highway 99 in the far left lane when it struck Martinez, who reportedly walked into the roadway.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures on Martinez after finding her with critical injuries. Despite rescue efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said the driver of the Dodge Charger remained at the site following the collision and cooperated with investigators. Authorities said drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
