Citrus Heights, CA – A motorcycle rider was injured in a collision involving a big rig in Citrus Heights early Tuesday morning, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District
The collision took place on San Juan Avenue and Westgate Drive on Tuesday, May 12.
According to the investigators, a semi-truck and a motorcyclist were involved in the crash. The two collided in the northbound lanes of San Juan Avenue for unknown reasons.
The California Highway Patrol officers, Citrus Heights Police Department, and crews with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the scene and attended to the involved parties.
The motorcyclist was transported by medics to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. The identity of the injured rider was not immediately available.
Nearly 50 gallons of fuel was spilled onto the roadway following the incident. Lanes were shut down in the area as authorities worked to clear the scene.
The California Highway is investigating to determine the cause of the collision.
