Sacramento, CA. – 21-year-old Victor Manuel Castaneda died when his stalled pickup truck was struck by a semi-truck last weekend in Sacramento, the Sacramento County Coroner's Office reported.
The incident transpired around 7 a.m. on the northbound Interstate 5 north of Sutterville Road.
Just before the crash, Castaneda's pickup truck was, for an unknown reason, disabled in traffic lanes.
The driver of a big rig was unable to avoid a collision and ended up hitting Castaneda's vehicle as he tried to get it to the off-ramp.
The pickup truck caught fire.
Castaneda died in the crash from fire-related injuries, as per the coroner's office.
His family opened a GoFundMe account to help them raise funds for his funeral expenses.

Sacramento, CA. – A big rig collision that happened Saturday morning on Interstate 5 in Sacramento left one person dead and closed lanes for several hours.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred around 7 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-5 north of Sutterville Road.
A tractor-trailer collided with a pickup truck that was disabled in the traffic lanes for an unknown reason.
The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene.
All northbound lanes were shut down for investigation.
CHP is investigating the crash.
