Highland Park, CA – A 60-year-old man was hit and killed by a train in the Highland Park area on Thursday morning.

According to a report by the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident was reported at around 7:17 a.m. May 7, at 100 N. Avenue 61.

Authorities reported that a man was hit by a light rail train on Metro’s A Line. Details on the circumstances of the collision, including why the pedestrian was on the tracks, were not immediately available.

The LAFD crews arrived at the scene shortly after and pronounced the victim deceased.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Rafael Cruz, 60.

No one on the train reported any injuries in the incident.

The light rail services were suspended between the Highland Park and Fillmore stations as authorities investigated the incident.

More details on the accident were not released. The cause of the deadly crash is under investigation.
