Authorities reported that the 14-year-old girl was riding an electric scooter along a 12-year-old girl when she ran a stop sign, moving directly in front of a passing Dodge pickup truck.

Fresno County, CA – A 14-year-old girl riding an electric scooter was hospitalized after colliding with a car Saturday afternoon on Weldon Avenue in Fresno County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported around 5:30 p.m., May 9, near First and McKinley avenues.

Authorities reported that the 14-year-old girl was riding an electric scooter along a 12-year-old girl riding behind her when she ran a stop sign, moving directly in front of a passing Dodge pickup truck.

The pickup truck hit the scooter, ejecting the teen.

The girl was transported to the hospital with major injuries.

Both girls were not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
