According to initial reports, a Metro A Line train passing through the area struck a pedestrian on the tracks.

Los Angeles, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles on Thursday morning, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The collision took place at around 7:15 a.m. May 7, near North Avenue 61 and Figueroa Street.
According to initial reports, a Metro A Line train passing through the area struck a pedestrian on the tracks. The pedestrian was not at a railroad crossing when the accident happened.
LAFD crews responded to the scene and the pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene. The victim was not identified but authorities believe he was approximately 60 years old.
According to L.A. Metro, there were nearly 150 passengers onboard the train and none of them was injured. The passengers were transferred to another train.
Further details on the crash were not released. Authorities are still working to determine what led up to the deadly accident.
