Indio, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train near an intersection in Indio on Friday evening, according to a report by the Indio Police Department.
At about 7:06 p.m. May 2, authorities responded to reports of a collision near Indio Boulevard and Clinton Street.
According to investigators, man was walking on the train tracks when a passing train struck him. It’s still unclear why the pedestrian was on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks when the incident happened.
Indio police and emergency personnel arrived at the scene shortly after receiving reports of the collision.
Authorities confirmed the pedestrian deceased at the scene. The victim’s name and age were not released by the authorities.
No other injuries were reported in the collision.
The Indio Police Department and the Union Pacific Railroad personnel are investigating determine what led up to the accident.
