Borrego Springs, CA – The authorities have released the name of a 25-year-old man who was hit and killed on Di Giorgio Road in Borrego Springs early Wednesday morning.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner identified the deceased man as Angel Jose Fregoso Lopez, a resident of Borrego Springs.
According to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD), the incident happened at about 5:38 a.m. on April 29, on northbound Di Giorgio Road, north ot Tilting T Drive.
SDPD said Lopez was running on the roadway when he was struck by a 2011 Nissan Frontier pickup truck operated by a 61-year-old man.
The driver of the pickup truck stopped and called 911. Emergency responders pronounced Lopez dead at the scene at about 5:50 a.m.
The incident remains under investigation.

Borrego Springs, CA – A 25-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian crash on Di Giorgio Road in Borrego Springs early Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal collision occurred on Di Giorgio Road at approximately 5:38 a.m. on Wednesday.
Preliminary investigation findings indicate that a 61-year-old man was driving a 2011 Nissan Frontier northbound at about 50 mph when he struck a 25-year-old man who was running northbound within the same lane of travel in front of the vehicle. Authorities said the pedestrian was running in low-light conditions and was not wearing reflective clothing or using any lighting.
The 25-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been released. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. No arrests have been reported.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, though authorities stated that alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.
