Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a deadly rear-end collision that left three dead and others injured at an intersection in Bakersfield Thursday evening.

BPD said a silver Toyota SUV, a silver Ford SUV, and a silver Honda sedan were all traveling eastbound on Harris Road. Investigators said the Toyota SUV rear-ended the Ford SUV at a high rate of speed near the intersection and also caused a secondary collision involving the Honda sedan.
A man and a woman inside the Ford SUV were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota SUV was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Two men inside the Honda sedan reported complaints of pain. No arrests have been reported.
The names of the victims have not been released pending family notification.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs were factors.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist victims and manage the situation.
The crash impacted traffic in the area as authorities conducted their investigation along Harris Road.
