According to the BPD, a man had just stepped out of a bus when he entered the roadway and was hit by a vehicle heading east on Auburn Street

Bakersfield, CA – A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in Northeast Bakersfield on Friday night, according to a report by the Bakersfield Police Department.
The collision happened in the 5600 block of Auburn Street at around 7:10 p.m. on Friday, April 18.
According to the BPD, a man had just stepped out of a bus when he entered the roadway and was hit by a vehicle heading east on Auburn Street.
After receiving reports of the collision, police immediately rushed to the scene and found the pedestrian lying in the roadway.
Emergency crews arrrived shortly after and confirmed the pedestrian deceased at the scene. The victim’s identity is expected to be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
Police found the driver who hit the pedestrian at the scene. The driver cooperated with investigators and was not suspected to have been impaired or speeding.
