Hayward, CA – At least one person was injured in a collision involving a big rig in Hayward on Monday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place on Highway 238, north of Mission Boulevard at around 4:40 p.m. April 14.
According to preliminary investigations, the driver of a Jeep is believed to have had a medical episode and crashed into a big rig on the southbound side of the highway. The big rig rolled over as a result of the collision.
The driver of the big rig sustained a broken arm in the accident. It’s unclear whether the driver was transferred to a hospital for further treatment.
The operator of the Jeep was being treated for complications arising from the medical emergency.
The drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles at the time and their identities were not immediately released.
At least two southbound lanes of Highway 238 were temporarily shut down as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
There were no additional details on the accident and an investigation by the California Highway Patrol is ongoing.
