Tracy, CA – One person was killed following a late-night two-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate 205 near El Rancho Road in the Exeter area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash was reported at approximately 11:33 p.m. on eastbound I-205 just east of El Rancho Road.

CHP logs indicate the collision involved at least two vehicles, including a white Honda that was reportedly split in half in the crash. One vehicle was found off the right-hand shoulder, and another reportedly came to rest in trees along the roadway. Dispatch reports also noted that one of the vehicles may have caught fire following the collision.

Emergency crews responded to the scene after reports of a major crash with debris and hazards blocking portions of the roadway. One party was found outside of a vehicle when officers arrived.

Authorities later confirmed the collision was fatal. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Tow trucks, including a heavy-duty evidence tow, were requested to recover the wrecked vehicles from the scene. CHP officers temporarily closed the No. 3 Lane for the investigation and cleanup operations.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
