Sacramento County, CA – 2 E-Bike Riders Killed in Collision on Eagles Nest Road and Woodring Drive

Authorities reported that a truck was traveling at a high rate of speed in the area when it crashed into two e-bike riders that were stopped at a stop sign.

Sacramento County, CA – Two men are dead after being struck by a truck while riding e-bikes on Monday night in Sacramento County.

According to California Highway Patrol logs, the incident happened in the area of Eagles Nest Road and Woodring Drive just before 10 p.m. on Monday, May 18.

Authorities reported that a truck was traveling at a high rate of speed in the area when it crashed into two e-bike riders that were stopped at a stop sign.

The two victims, only identified as men, were killed in the collision. The names and ages of the two riders were not released.

Fire crews with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the accident.

The driver of the truck and another occupant fled the scene after the collision. The driver was located and arrested shortly after at his parent’s home while the other suspect was located in a nearby field.

Two other people riding in the truck were transported to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

According to the CHP, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs was suspected to have factored in the accident.

Roads were shut down near the intersection as investigators examined and cleared the scene. An investigation by the CHP is currently ongoing.
