Los Angeles, CA – Two people were injured in a collision involving a Metro light-rail train and three cars that happened Tuesday morning near an intersection in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles.
According to authorities, the accident took place around 8:30 a.m. on May 18 in the 1800 block of East 114th Street near Wilmington Avenue.
The crash involved a Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority A Line train and three vehicles.
Two people sustained injuries but refused to be transported to the hospital.
The train had 148 people on board at the time of the crash. The passengers exited the train and were expected to be transported on buses. They were evaluated by firefighters.
Investigators closed rail traffic on the Union Pacific Railroad line, adjacent to the Metro tracks.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision.
