According to Oakland police, a 61-year-old man was riding a motorcycle south on Maritime Street when he collided with a semi-truck turning northbound onto Maritime Street.

Oakland, CA – A motorcyclist died Saturday night after colliding with a big rig at an intersection in West Oakland, authorities reported.

The accident occurred at an unspecified time on May 16 at Burma Road and Maritime Street near the Port of Oakland.

According to Oakland police, a 61-year-old man was riding a motorcycle south on Maritime Street when he collided with a semi-truck turning northbound onto Maritime Street.

The rider hit the big rig’s trailer and got ejected, landing underneath it, where he was pinned.

Responding emergency personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The big rig driver was not hurt.

Oakland police traffic division is investigating the crash.
